Dear Donald,

I was very disheartened to see that you revoked the freedom for transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice. This came right on the tail end of you stating yesterday that we need to fight intolerance. This is a loss of a basic civil right.

Using the restroom is a basic human need, you should be able to do this in a place you feel secure in. I hate the arguments that people use safety as a concern and a reason to why we cannot have inclusive bathroom arrangements. The idea that male perverts parading around in opposite gender clothing to enter bathrooms with the intent to sexually assault is outrageous. Sexual assaults can occur between men alone, just as they can with women alone, but yet it always seems to be assumed that faux trans women will prey on cis women.

If a trans woman was to enter a men’s restroom as you would like, are you not also concerned about the possible sexual assault on them? They are not only at risk for sexual assault, but just plain assault too.

You not only didn’t follow through with your words yesterday and fight hatred’s ugly forms, you were directly responsible for this act of bigotry and intolerance. President Obama saw a need to stand up for the trans communities civil rights and you snatched it back from them. We stepped forward in progress only to be yanked back by you.

I hope that when trouble arises from your actions today, you will be able to see this falls on you. Your actions today will affect so many and I hope the world holds you accountable for this. I can only hope for the best and hope nobody is seriously hurt as a result of your intolerance today.
